Corruption in Full View

I was watching a Biography on the presidency of FDR a few months ago. It revealed that FDR and Churchill were in communication behind the back of Chamberlain. It made me wonder: Was this treason? Why are we hearing about this sixty years later?

I ask because of the stories from the last two days. One of Phil Gramm and his role in the current mortgage crisis, one of McCain's aides heads a company that is profitting off the war, and allegations of lies about Iraq and WMDs by the Bush White House.

Phil Gramm works/ed for a Swiss Bank who either made then sold subprime mortgages or bought then sold subprime mortgages. From news reports, Gramm and the Bank made a mint, but at the expense of the American public.

One of McCain's aides owns a company that won a contract with the US governmentJordanian government to transport aircraft fuel across Jordan. What sticks out about this, is that this aide's company didn't make the lowest bid.

According to a former White House spokesman, Bush/Cheney used propaganda to sell the American public on the Iraq War. OK. Duh!?!?!?!?

It used to be, politicians did their dirt in secret. You wouldn't hear about the crap they pulled until fifty years after their deaths. These days, politicians do their dirty work in full view of the whole world. This mess with Gramm, McCain's aide, and Bush/Cheney is unreal. They all ride dirty. What's surprising, or sad rather, is that they have no shame. Cheating their fellow Americans or sending them to their deaths doesn't bother these people. I know I wouldn't be able to sleep if I did half the crap these fools did.

Why aren't their acts considered treason? Does this mess meet the threshold for "high crimes and misdemeanors"? Can't they be brought in front of the Hague for crimes against humanity and/or genocide?
